There’s something truly comforting about sipping horchata on a warm day—its creamy sweetness, soft spices, and gentle texture feel like a hug in a glass. But when infused with a protective tea blend crafted to support the energetic and physical heart while calming the nervous system, it becomes so much more than a refreshing drink—it becomes a deeply grounding, healing ritual.
Why Heart & Nervous System Support?
In times of stress, transition, or emotional intensity, our hearts often carry more than they can hold. By weaving in herbs that are known for their affinity to both the physical and emotional heart—alongside those that help regulate and restore the nervous system—we create a beverage that not only cools the body, but also softens the spirit.
Grounded Heart was created to protect the energetic and physical heart. The spicy warmth of Cinnamon helps to balance blood sugar, while antioxidant rich Honeybush supports the vasculature of the heart. Finished with the heart opening and boundary instilling Rose, this tea allows you to feel at ease in your self while grounding your place in this world.
What Is Horchata?
Traditional Mexican horchata is a blend of soaked rice, cinnamon, and sweetener—creamy, dairy-free, and comforting. In this version, we’re steeping your herbal tea blend into the soaking water to infuse every sip with plant medicine that grounds and protects.
Grounded Heart Horchata Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup white rice (long-grain is ideal)
1/2 cup raw almonds (optional, for extra nourishment)
6 Tbsp Grounded Heart tea
1–2 tbsp maple syrup, honey, or sweetener of choice (to taste)
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
Pinch of sea salt
Directions
Brew Your Tea In a heat-safe jar or pot, steep 6 tablespoons of Grounded Heart tea blend in 4 cups of freshly boiled water. Cover and steep while you soak your rice.
Soak Rinse the rice (and almonds), then place them in a large jar or bowl. Cover the mixture with warm water and let it soak for at least 6 hours or overnight.
Blend After soaking, strain the rice and almonds then transfer to a high-speed blender with your strained tea. Add sweetener, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Blend for 2–3 minutes, until silky smooth.
Strain Strain through a fine mesh sieve, cheesecloth, or nut milk bag into a clean jar or pitcher.
Chill & Serve Let it chill in the fridge for an hour or more. Serve cold over ice, and dust with cinnamon if desired.
Shelf Life & Storage
Store in the fridge for up to 3–4 days. Shake before each use, as natural separation may occur.
In the name of iced tea lattes!
Drinking iced tea lattes is one of my favourite ways to enjoy medicinal herbs. It’s a gentle, nourishing practice—and with the right plant-based mylk, it becomes even more intentional. Different nuts and grains carry their own energetics, allowing us to guide and amplify the medicine’s effect in the body. Grounded Heart is a formula centered around restoring and protecting the heart, both emotionally and physically. But when paired with the sweet, starchy qualities of rice and almonds, we subtly direct that healing toward the nervous system—bringing a sense of grounding, calm, and embodied support with every sip.
